FRANCES STORY
TEACHING WRITER. COMMUNITY BUILDER.
Frances Story (née Poet Jen Harris) is a teaching writer whose work blends creative grit with emotional honesty.
A proud wife and member of the first generation of federally recognized married lesbians, she writes from the front lines of love and resistance. Her work explores queer-specific struggles, including chosen motherhood.
She is the founder of many community-centered creative workshops, including Creative Neighbors, Salt Tooth Writers, The Writing Workshop KC, and Kansas City Poetry Slam, and is the author of three poetry collections.
Currently, Frances is a Graduate Instructor and pursuing her MFA at the University of Missouri–Kansas City.
